It is absolutely not. In fact, that was the first thing he checked, and the extremely thin and flimsy foam ripped in several places immediately. Turns out the foam is GLUED IN, which is pretty much the opposite of removable.The whole idea for us was to get something easy to clean in case one or several of the batteries began to leak, which is what happened recently with our other hard plastic battery box. This is not going to work for our needs and frankly isn't even worth the hassle of doing a return.
